Sunday School
Sunday School is Alive @ 9:45
Sunday School Definition
Sunday School is the foundational strategy in a local church for leading people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and for building on mission Christians through open Bible – study groups that engage people in evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, and worship.
Sunday School is the starting place at Midway, to GO and REACH and LEAD people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and for building on mission Christians in doing what God is calling them to do for Him. We do this through open Bible study groups, who can come?(anybody) everyone is welcomed. The Bible study groups engage people in evangelism, discipleship, fellowship (relationship) ministry, and worship.
OUR GOAL
- Reach people
- Teach people the Bible
- Care for people
- Witness to people
- Fellowship with people
- Lead people to Worship
- Minister to the needs of God’s people
Children & Youth
- Birth - 18 months: Greg Pugh
Keeping the babies aged 0 to 18 months has been a real blessing. We are looking forward to new additions and we see it as not only a service to allow the parents to participate in Sunday School and to know that their babies are being well taken care of, but also we see it as an opportunity to provide stability and build relationships with our youngest church family members. This gives us the opportunity to pray over and care for the youngest of God’s precious gifts! Having children of our own, we appreciate those who served our family in this way by loving and caring for our little ones. Young parents need to be grounded in God’s Word and being able to participate in Adult Sunday School is vital to that end. If you are looking for a church home and have small children, we welcome you to visit us and assure you that your children will be in good hands!
- Toddlers
Our Toddlers Sunday School Class is a group of lively young tots ages 18 months to 2 years. The children spend their time engaged in learning about the Bible through a
shared Bible story with a focal scripture, class playtime, and music.
- 1st & 2nd Grade: Gins Walace & Cathy Fisher
The 1st and 2nd Graders are focusing on listening, learning, laughing, and sharing while discovering the many characters through the Bible and how the love of Jesus was with them and is still with us today! We are encouraging them through various activities to learn how to find the books and scriptures in the Bible and also how we can pray, anytime, anywhere, for anyone.
- 3rd & 4th Grade: Bo Jennings & Lisa Ward
Delve into the Word of God and study how God speaks to us from the Bible through:
Mystery, Horror, Suspense Stories, Adventure, War Stories, Poetry, Parables, and yes, even Romance, yuck! There’s something for everyone in the Word. Come join us in the 3rd/4th grade Sunday School to find out how exciting the Word is, and how it applies to your own life!
Adults
- Bible Explorers: Glenn Lambath
The Bible Explorers class is made up of adults 40 and up (although all are welcome) we grow in the word of the Lord through the Exploring the Bible Sunday school lesson. Our class supports each other through prayer, council, and lending a helping hand when needed. We enjoy fellowship outside of class by going out to diner as a group, or meeting as a group for our annul Luau, Christmas Party, and outings to Morrow Mountain, Cane Creek park, or just a trip on the Charlotte trolley, we try to do something on a monthly basis. While doing things as a group draws us together, our strength comes through helping others (missions). We take lead each Thanksgiving in cooking 40+ turkeys for the Lord of The Harvest meal held in Monroe, and we adopted a local family for Christmas. Each quarter we try and take on a different missions project, like water filters for Kenya.
- Joy Class: Mary Carpenter
The Joy Class is about reaching women that do not have a husband to come to church with them. It's for the lady that is single, divorced, widowed, or married but her spouse does not go to church with her. Our Sunday School is very informal. We have a lesson each Sunday that we encourage personal participation with life lessons learned that makes the message the Lord is sending us in His Word become real in today's world. We meet in the kitchen in the old FLC and always have a pot of coffee brewing. Nothing beats studying and discussing God's word around the kitchen table while having a good cup of coffee with friends. JOY - Jesus-Others-Yourself is the motto and life lesson of our class.
- Silver Senior Saints: Danny Fisher
The Silver Senior Saints are Midway Ladies 70+ who study the Bible, and encourage each other, and others in the church through phone calls and cards of encouragement. They are also prayer warriors, lifting up the needs of the church and community in prayer. The Silver Senior Saints also participate in the senior activities of Midway baptist Church.

Prayer Groups
Men of Valor
Prayer is having conversation with God. Prayer is the foundation of Christian growth. Just as in a marriage, or relationship with a friend, you have to talk or the relationship will not grow.
The Men of Valor is a group of men who feel led by God to meet on Monday nights to pray for the needs of the church, community, our families, our military, government, and any concerns brought before the group. All men are welcome to attend weather they feel called to pray, or need prayer for themselves, or there family for a specific matter.
Ladies Ministry Meeting
Ladies Ministry
The women of Midway meet the 1st Thursday of the month at the church.
At 6:45 the women meet to exercise their bodies, and at 7:15 they meet in the Family Life Center for bible study to exercise the mind, and grow closer to the Lord.
The ladies also have a heart sister program which runs through the year
The annual Ladies banquet always draws a packed house with themed tables, great food, speaker, and entertainment
Please see Tina Weaver additional information
Men’s Ministry
Midway Men’s Brotherhood
The men of Midway share and grow together though different events.
1. Every Monday night the men meet in the old sanctuary for prayer. This is open to all men who feel called to pray for their families, Church, Community, military, government, and other concerns brought before the group.
2. Fellowship breakfast: on the third Sunday morning of every month the men meet together in the Family Life Center at 8:00 for breakfast, and fellowship. After a great meal the men plan for upcoming mission’s trips, or to plan helping someone in the community. We are also fed through the Word, by our brother Henry Haney who always encourages, and challenges the men through Gods word.
3. Mission’s trips & Projects: Missions trips and projects are open to both men and women, and we encourage all men to pray about how the Lord would have you serve, and if led to talk to the pastor, deacons, or mission’s committee and lead a mission’s trip locally, nationally, or internationally.
